✨ Behind the Scenes: When Characters Refuse to Behave

One of the funniest things about writing romance is that no matter how carefully I outline a book, the characters almost always decide they have a better idea.

That's exactly what's happening while I work on Tempting the Billionaire.

When I first started planning the story, I thought I knew exactly who Julian Cross was. Successful billionaire? Check. Confident? Check. Completely in control of his life? Also check.

Then I actually started writing him.

It turns out Julian is a lot funnier than I expected.

And a lot more stubborn.

The bigger surprise has been Elena Bennett. She's supposed to be the professional matchmaker helping him find a wife, but she spends an alarming amount of time arguing with him instead.

Apparently neither of them got the memo that they're supposed to fall in love.

At least not yet.

Some of my favorite moments in a book happen when characters take a scene in a completely unexpected direction, and that's been happening a lot lately with these two.

The good news?

The banter is fantastic.

The bad news?

It's making me laugh when I'm supposed to be writing.

I'll be sharing sneak peeks and excerpts soon, but for now I'll just say this: Julian thinks he can outsmart a professional matchmaker.

Elena thinks she's immune to billionaire charm.

Both of them are about to learn some very important lessons.

💜

Until next time,
